Collaborative Teaching Session on Taxation

On the 25th of March 2023, Saturday, Assistant Professor Merville Rodrigues engaged a collaborative teaching session for the Third Year LL.B. Degree students along with Assistant Professor Ruby Zenilda Luis in classroom number 1 in the annex building on the third floor of G. R. Kare College of Law.

The topic covered was “Authorities under the Income Tax Act, 1961”. Assistant Professors Merville Rodrigues and Assistant Professor Ruby Luis began the session at 9:20 am with the concept of assessment and explaining the various authorities under the Income Tax Act, 1961. The students were interactive and answered questions posed by the faculty.

The authorities i.e. the CBDT or the Central Board of Direct Taxes, Director General of Income Tax, Chief commissioner of Income Tax, Directors and commissioner of Income Tax, Additional Directors and Additional Commissioners of Income Tax, Joint Directors and Joint Commissioners of Income Tax, Deputy Directors and Deputy Commissioners of Income Tax Assistant Directors and Assistant Commissioners of Income Tax, Income Tax Officers, Tax recovery Officers, Income Tax Inspectors were explained. Their appointments and powers were also explained. The students posed various question making the session lively and interesting.

The aim of the collaborative session was to enlighten the students about the practical and theoretical aspects of various authorities under the Income Tax Act, 1961.

There were 32 students present for the collaborative session.
