Yearwise Annual Sports Report

2014-15

Sports are an important component of the student’s quality of life on campus. Most students choose a college or university for its academic merits, but another key factor in their decision is the sports program and extracurricular activities.

Following are the events in which the college has participated.

The notable performances in these above-mentioned events need a special praise.

Continuing our colleges’ rich tradition in bringing in the medals in Power lifting, Omkar Dalvi of F.Y. Degree secured a Gold medal in All Goa intercollegiate competition, organized by Goa University.

In addition, Harshad Bandodkar secured a gold medal in men’s Short Put at the athletic meet. In the same athlectic meet Chaitali Gaonkar also from F.Y.LL.B. Degree secured a bronze medal for discus throw.

The football team put up a good show, progressing from preliminary round, but were knocked out by the eventual winners Rosary College Navelim.

The College organized an intercollegiate tennis ball cricket tournament and with the full fledged support of the Management,16 Colleges from all over Goa Participated for the said event and in Government College Quepem emerged as the eventual winners. Adv. Pritam Morais Second Vice President of the board was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution.

The best sports man & sports women of the year. These awards were instituted by Smt. Sheela Tai Gauneker founder member of the Mandal in memory of her husband & founder President of Vidya Vikas Mandal late Adv. H.M.N. Gaunekar, the award carries a cash prize &  a rolling trophy.  However, this year the Trophy for the best sports persons regretfully remains unclaimed as all the contenders  were not fitting the criteria of representing college for minimum two years.

College emerged as winners at Inter collegiate Powerlifting Championship Organised by Goa University. The team consisted of  Harshad Bandodkar, Rakshit Naik, Vinesh Naik, Aniket Kunde, Deepak Fernandes.

College emerged as winners at Inter collegiate Weightlifting Championship Organised by Goa University headed by Deepak Fernandes.

2016-17
  • College won the power lifting championship, second year in row.
  • Deepak Fernandes won two Gold medals in Weightlifting & Powerlifting besides silver medals in Judo championship organised by the Goa University.
  • Abhinav Marathe won two Gold medals  each in Weightlifting & Powerlifting championship organised by the Goa University.
  • Omkar Dalvi won Silver medal in Powerlifting & Bronze in Weightlifting championship organised by the Goa University.
  • Omkar Prabhudesai won Silver medal in powerlifting championship organised by the Goa University.
  • Deepak Fernandes & Abhinav Marathe Represented Goa University at the Inter University Championship held at Punjab University in Chandigarh.
  • Geneive Fernandes also represented Goa State Junior National Championship held at Cuttack in Odisha
  • Geneive Fernandes Third place at Inter collegiate Athletic Championship Organised by Goa University
  • Harshad Bandodkar won gold medal  at Inter collegiate Powerlifting Championship organised by Goa University
  • Harshad Bandodkar won gold medal in Discuss Throw at Inter collegiate Athletics Championship
  • Harshad Bandodkar won bronze medal in Shot Put at Inter collegiate Athletics Championship

  • College also successfully organised Annual sports Day where large number of students participated in various events beside some events were also organised for entire staff members.

2017-18

The college students had participated in 15 events organized by Goa University & One student represented Goa State for National yoga championship. Deepak Fernandes won the Gold medal at all Goa open weightlifting championship organized by Goa weightlifting association.

  1. Abhinav Marathe – Two Gold Medal: One each in Weight lifting & Powerlifting championship
  2. Omkar Prabhudessai – Gold Medal in Power lifting
  3. Pavan Kumar – Bronze medal in Power lifting
  4. Harshad bandodkar – Gold medal in Power lifting
  5. Harshad bandodkar – Gold medal in Shot Put
  6. Ankesh Shetty Represented Goa state for west zone handball championship.

The College won the powerlifting Championship (Second time in a row).

In Inter Collegiate Championship Harshad Bandodkar won the Gold medal in shot put.

Vidya Vikas Mandal organized the Annual Sport Meet on the 15th and 16th of December 2017.

Outstanding Achievement

  • G. R. Kare College won Inter – Collegiate power lifting championship for the fourth time in row. Team lead by Abhinav Marathe.
  • Abhinav Marathe won the Gold medal in power lifting championship.
  • Omkar Prabhudessai won Gold in power lifting championship
  • Harshad Bandodkar won the Gold medal in power lifting championship
  • Pritesh Majalkar won the Bronze medal in power lifting championship .
  • Harshad Bandadkar created history by establishing New Athletic meet record in shot put during inter collegiate athletic meet 2018-19

Harshad was also selected in the Goa state team for National Games to be held in Goa in April end. Harshad also Represented Goa University for the All India inter university  Power lifting championship at Thrissur in Kerela from 19 th – 23 rd Feb, 2019
