GUIDELINES FOR  CONDUCT OF CONTINUOUS INTERNAL EVALUATION

 

B.A. LL.B PROGRAMME

Scheme for Internal Assessment - 25 Marks 

  • Assignment (10 marks)
  • Internal Test ( 15 marks)
  1. The internal assessment is to be conducted twice for every academic year.
  2. The assignment shall be further assessed into two components, namely 5 marks for written submission and 5 marks for oral presentation.
  3. The internal/written  test  shall be of 15 marks and of  ONE hour duration.
  4. The test shall be on the basis of the identified syllabus in the respective subject allotted by the subject teacher .
  5. The pattern of the question paper shall be as communicated by the HoD.

Communication 

  • The assignment topics in all the subjects have to be communicated to the class well in advance.
  • Any clarification in the topic allotted to the student has to be addressed to the teacher concerned or to the class mentor.
  • Students who are unable to submit and /or present  their assignments in time due to unavoidable circumstances( sickness, representations or otherwise)  have to be given an opportunity as and when the circumstances permit him/her to do so.

 

Award of marks

  • After the completion of the Internal assessment, the concerned subject teacher has to submit the marks to the HoD who shall along with the Examination committee scrutinize the marks before they are finally communicated to the students .
  • Any grievance with respect to the award of marks or any typographical errors have to be reported to the HoD immediately, who shall thereupon direct the concerned teacher to rectify the said errors.
  • The  marks have to awarded by the teacher in the class upon the conclusion of presentation by the student and return the written assignment to the said student after recording the marks scored.

 

LL.M PROGRAMME

LL.M Programme (Old Programme)

Scheme for Internal Assessment - 25 Marks

 

  • Written assignment for 10 marks
  • Internal Test for 15 marks
  1. The internal assessment is to be conducted twice for every academic year.

  3. The internal/written  test  shall be of 15 marks and of  ONE hour duration.

  5. The pattern of the question paper shall be as communicated by the HoD.

Choice Based Credit System: ( CBCS)

After the introduction of the CBCS programme, the following is the scheme to be adopted for the conduct of internal assessment by the Institution.

  • Presentation on a allotted topic with the aid of powerpoint for 10 marks
  • Internal Test for 10 marks
  • Article writing for 10 marks.

 

Legal Education and Pedagogy: ( 50 marks internal and 50 marks external)

The scheme shall differ as regards the subject of Legal Education and Pedagogy wherein the following components will be the basis of assessment for   50 marks in addition to the above scheme.

  • Class lectures engaged by the students in the undergraduate programme- 25 marks
  • Submission of the Model teaching plan/lesson plan- 15 marks
  • Internal test – 10 marks

 

Dissertation

  • The dissertation work shall be spread over the third and fourth semesters
  • Topics for the dissertation shall be finalized by the student in consultation with the Departmental Faculty Committee (DFC) before the end of the second semester.
  • Dissertation being 8 credit course, a student is required to engage 120 hours on dissertation work, of which at least 10% (12 hours shall be compulsorily spent on consultation with the Guide, who shall supervise the student on a regular basis
  • The final dissertation is required to e an original work and shall be screened for similarity test as per the University norms.
  • The dissertation shall be assessed for a total of 200 marks, of which 50 marks shall before the presentation and viva voce and 150 marks shall be for the dissertation that is submitted. The average marks of the panel of three examiners shall be considered for the grade.

 

PRACTICAL PAPERS (SEMESTER IX & X B.A. LL.B & SEMESTER V &VI LL.B DEGREE)

The following shall be the scheme for the  conduct and assessment of the practical component in the B.A L.L.B programme and LL.B degree programme:

Practical I: Drafting, Pleading and Conveyancing

Practical II : Professional Ehics, Accountancy for Lawyers and Bar Bench Relations

Practical III: Alternative Dispute Resolution

Practical IV: Moot Court ,Observation of Trial & Interview Technique.

 

  • The practical component is a continuous process followed by the Institution
  • Monitoring of the work undertaken shall be done routinely except in Practical Paper I namely, Drafting of Pleadings and Conveyancing , in which classroom attendance is compulsory.
  • At the end of the academic term, there shall be a date notified by the concerned teacher to the students as regards submission of journals maintained for practical papers and conduct of viva voce examination.
  • Students should compulsorily answer one and half hour exam in the allotted classroom, in the practical paper II namely, Professional Ethics and one hour exam in practical paper I namely, Drafting of Pleadings and Conveyancing which shall form a part of their assessment.
  • The students will have appear for a viva voce examination before a panel of examiners appointed by the Principal and submit the viva voce examination marks to the subject teacher upon its completion, who shall thereupon compile the same and enter in the marks sheet prepared in the respective components.  The marks are to be finally submitted to the HoD for maintaining of records.
