2nd Crisis Control International Competition (CCIC)

The 2nd Crisis Control International Competition (CCIC) was organized with its MoU partner Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa on 27th and 28th January, 2023 on the theme of ‘The Law of the Sea’. CCIC this year was via hybrid mode, with the teams and some guests joining online and others visiting the GRKCL campus. Prof. Dr. Fernando Loureiro Bastos was the representative from the Lisbon.
Chief Guest of inaugural Prof. (Dr). TR Subramanya, Dean of CMR University School of Legal Studies, Bengaluru presented keynote address on the UNCLOS. Thereafter the program coordinator, Asst. Prof. Vaibhavi Rane proceeded with the orientation session, which included the picking of the lots for the competition on 28th January 2023. The crux of CCIC are the learning sessions, this edition saw two luminaries in the law of the sea educating our participants. Prof. Dr. Fernando Loureiro Bastos and Dr. Abdullah Al Arif gave a thorough understanding of the UNCLOS, and maritime law.


The following day saw, fierce competition between teams from India, Portugal, Macau and Sri Lanka battling for the win. The competition rounds were divided into teams arguing FOR AGAINST the proposition, before judges Prof. Dr. Fernando Loureiro Bastos, Prof. Dr. Graca Enes, Prof. Gudmundur Eiriksson and Dr. Abdullah Al Arif. The winners were K.L.E Society’s Law College, Bangalore and Faculty of Law, Colombo University, Sri Lanka.
CCIC concluded with Valedictorian Chief Guest, Prof. Gudmundur Eiriksson, a pioneer in the international law of sea sharing his insights. The HoD Mr S. N. Invalli thanked the dignitaries, participants, the faculty and the volunteers involved in the event and mainly Principal of GRKCL, Dr. Saba Da Silva for his support.
