Launch of GRKCL Cyber Cell and its flagship Cyber Awareness Project “CYBERIZE”
VVM’s G.R. Kare College of Law, Margao, marked an important milestone in its journey toward promoting digital literacy and cyber safety with the successful inauguration of its Cyber Cell and the launch of its flagship cyber awareness project titled “Cyberize”, in collaboration with the South Goa District Police. The initiative aims to create a robust platform for spreading awareness about cyber threats, digital responsibility, and the legal framework governing cyber crimes among students and the wider community.
The inauguration was formally conducted at the hands of Shri Tikam Singh Verma, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Goa, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring address, Shri Verma highlighted the growing dependence on digital technologies and the corresponding rise in cyber crimes. He stressed the urgent need for cyber vigilance, ethical online behavior, and continuous public awareness. He encouraged students to act as the first line of defense against cyber threats by educating people in their families and communities about safe digital practices.
The programme commenced with a warm opening address by Dr. Goretti Simoes, Officiating Principal, who underscored the institution’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence combined with social responsibility. She emphasized that in the present digital age, legal education must go beyond textbooks and actively equip students with practical knowledge of cyber laws and cyber security. She expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated Cyber Cell and the “Cyberize” project would serve as powerful tools in nurturing legally aware and digitally responsible citizens.

As a key component of this initiative, a specialized training session was organized for five selected students from each class, who have been designated as “Cyber Yoddhas” of G.R. Kare College of Law. These student ambassadors will take forward the mission of spreading cyber safety awareness under the banner of the “Cyberize” project through workshops, street plays, school outreach programmes, and community interaction.
The training session was expertly conducted by Mr. Sahil Awasthi, Cyber Yoddha, Goa Police, who delivered an engaging and highly informative presentation. He provided in-depth insights into various forms of cyber crimes such as online frauds, identity theft, cyber stalking, hacking, phishing, and social media misuse. He also educated the students on preventive strategies, cyber hygiene practices, safe use of social media platforms, password protection, and responsible digital conduct. The session equipped the Cyber Yoddhas with practical tools to identify cyber threats and guide victims effectively.
The entire programme was efficiently coordinated by Asst. Prof. Yamini Dalvi, along with Asst. Prof. Akanksha and Asst. Prof. Harshad Bandodkar, whose dedicated efforts ensured the smooth planning and execution of the event. Faculty members, students, and invited guests actively participated in the programme, making it an interactive and enriching experience. The inauguration of the Cyber Cell and the launch of the “Cyberize” project mark a significant step towards empowering law students with cyber-legal knowledge, strengthening community outreach, and fostering a culture of cyber safety and socio-legal awareness. The initiative reflects the college’s vision of producing socially responsible legal professionals who are equipped to address contemporary challenges in the digital era.
