Vidya Vikas Mandal (VVM) is an Educational Society that has been dedicatedly serving the student community of Goa for the last several decades. This Educational Society is recognized as a charitable organization, dedicated to the promotion of education in the State of Goa. Today, the campus of VVM offers quality education from KG to PG and beyond to more than 5000 students and providing employment opportunities to 400 teaching and non-teaching staff.
Established in the year 1971, VVM is managing various institutions at its educational campus, including Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law (GRKCL), R.M.S Higher Secondary School, H.M.N. Gaunekar Institute of Management and Research and Vidya Vikas Academy, a CBSE School affiliated to the Delhi Board..
GRKCL, which is its flagship institution, was established in the year 1979. It is the only Law College in South Goa. During its fertile existence of four decades, it has fruitfully enkindled the torch of legal education in the State of Goa and contributed to the legal fraternity in large numbers. It has strived to serve the student community with passion and dedication. The Institution has lived its ambitious motto of “excellence always in legal education”, which is amply reflected in its elegant and spacious infrastructure, a state of the art Law tech chamber , a fully furnished moot court hall, an over 200-capacity auditorium, fully Wi-Fi enabled institutional premises, a playground and an activity hall. With its alumni occupying a pivotal role in the legal fraternity and the PTA imbibing a vision to strive for excellence, the Institution has come a long way. GRKCL boasts young, dynamic and skillful faculty that has contributed to its success. It is also led by a young and dynamic Principal Dr. Maria Goretti Simoes, who has left no stone unturned to nurture and make the Institution the best in the west.
The Various associations of the Institution along with its stakeholders have given practical insights into the functioning of the legal justice delivery system. In its endeavor to enable the students’ community to compete at the state and national levels in judicial, administrative and other allied professions, the institution launched the ‘GRK-CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE’ as also the GRK JUDICIARY TALKS wherein it invites Judicial officers and experts from various fields/professions to interact with our students, upraise them of their respective professions and educate them on how to prepare for the various competitive exams. Our students have made a commendable mark for themselves in the entire country, which speaks volumes about the practical exposure they receive at the Institute and what they contribute back. The Institution proudly dons the cap of its multifaceted Memorandum of Association (MOUs) that it has entered to reach greater heights. Working through its various cells, committees and societies, the Institute has won several accolades, such as the Best Legal Aid Clinic, the Best Institution in the Western region and the Best in the South Goa district of the state of Goa. The Institution can boast of its first ever International Competition , the Crisis Control International Competition that attracts students from around the globe to its fore. The Institution has made giant leaps in the field of legal education and works with dedication and zeal to ensure its upswing.
The experiential working of its learners hands in glove with the law enforcement agencies, the NGOs, the lawyers, the government departments while still learning, is commendable. The Institution has revolutionized technology through its proactive Board of Management led by the dynamic ever versatile leader, Shri Nitin Kunkolienker, the President of the Vidya Vikas Mandal, a visionary par excellence who always leads from the front. His untiring vision to make the Institution technology-friendly has seen the light of the day. The Institution has given its stakeholders insight into the Judiciary by inviting judicial officers and reminiscing the views that they put forth to the learners. The state of-the-art moot court hall gives its learners insights into the practical working of the courts, and the learners make sure they will be fruitful in becoming beacons of legal education in the state of Goa. With hard work, dedication and perseverance, the learners have ensured that the institution reaches its ultimate pinnacle and be hailed as the BEST INSTITUION IMPARTING LEGAL KNOWLEDGE in the state of South Goa.
As it is said, this is just a beginning and not the end. GRKCL, the flagship institution of the Vidya Vikas Mandal has a long way to go, always striving at excellence in legal education and making its learners learn the law even before they venture into practice and interpret the law.
