VVM’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law in association with Board of Extra-Mural Studies and Extension Services Goa University organised the One Day State – Level Seminar on ‘Transforming women’s lives: issues, concerns & challenges’ on 8th March 2018. The seminar was organised to celebrate occasion of International Women’s Day.
The seminar was divided into two technical sessions i.e. morning session from 10.45 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and afternoon session from 2.00 p.m. to 4.30 p. m.The first technical session was on Legal Issues and Social Concern in Women’s Lives and the second session was on Rights, Wellness and Nutritional Challenges of Women
The inaugural function of the One Day State – level Seminar started at 10.00.a.m. C. A. Smt. Sheela Gaunekar, President of Vidya Vikas Mandal was the Chief Guest for the same. She was introduced to the delegates present for the seminar by Dr. Saba Da Silva, Principal of the college. C.A. Smt. Sheela Gaunekar addressed the audience present. The vote of thanks of the inaugural function was proposed by Ms. Sonia B. Shirodkar, Assistant Professor G. R. Kare College of Law and coordinator of the seminar.
The first technical session of the One Day State – level Seminar began at 10.45 a.m. after a short tea break from 10.30 a.m to 10 .45 a.m. There were three speakers for the session. The first speaker was Ms.Poonam Bharne, Public Prosecutor who spoke on Legal aspects of Rights of Women under Criminal Law. The second speaker of the session Ms. Joan Rebello, Social activist and Vice -Principal (Retd) Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics; spoke on Role of NGOs in Contribution towards Social Upliftment of Women. The third speaker Ms.Goretti Simoes, Assistant Professor of G.R. Kare College of Law spoke on Legal Protection of Women: Indian Scenario. The first session ended at 1.00p.m which was followed by the lunch break from 1.00p.m to 2.00p.m.
The second technical session of the One Day State – level Seminar began at 2.00 p.m. The three speakers of the session were Ms. Sheryl Afonso e D’Souza, Ms.Shruti Nadkarni and Ms. Nisha Costa. The first speaker Ms. Sheryl Afonso e D’Souza, Assistant Professor, Carmel College for Women, Nuvem spoke on the topic of Importance of nutrition towards well-being of women. The second speaker Ms.Shruti Nadkarni, Assistant Professor, G.R. Kare College of Law spoke on Role of Govt. in promotion of wellness amongst women. The last speaker of the session Ms.Nisha Costa, Counselor, G.R. Kare College of Law spoke on Women’s emotional health: life, love & relationship.
After a short tea break, the valedictory function started at 4.30.p.m. Smt. Sunita Sawant, Dy. S. P and S.D.P.O, Vasco, was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function. She was introduced to the delegates present for the seminar by Dr. Saba Da Silva, Principal of the college. Vote of thanks for the valedictory function was proposed by Ms. Sonia B. Shirodkar, Assistant Professor G. R. Kare College of Law and coordinator of the seminar. The rapporteurs of the seminar Ms.Pooja Naik Gaonkar and Ms. Scarlett Dias presented the report of session I and session II of One Day State – level Seminar, at the valedictory function. The delegates of the seminar also shared their views about the State Level seminar. The seminar concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
